What you will study

This is an Erasmus Mundus master's degree in children's literature, media and cultural entrepreneurship. It is a full-time, two-year programme taught in English. You study at universities in at least three European countries, with compulsory semesters at the University of Glasgow and at Aarhus University. The programme starts in August or September, and there is no winter intake.

What you study

The programme builds on a bachelor's degree in language, literature and media. You gain broad knowledge of the literature, media and culture of children and young people. The focus is on three things: the characteristics of specific texts and media, how children and young people use and produce texts and media themselves, and how literature and media are communicated and received in specific contexts.

You learn to use your knowledge of children's literature, media and culture in teaching, communication, project development and production. You also learn to apply theoretical and analytical knowledge in practice, for example by collaborating and communicating about children's literature, media and culture across different fields and age groups, in both private and public contexts.

How the programme is organised

The degree takes place at universities in at least three different European countries. Two semesters are compulsory: one at the University of Glasgow and one at Aarhus University. The rest of the programme is at other partner universities. You study with an international group of students from all over the world.

Teaching methods vary between the universities, so you meet different approaches to teaching and education. You are part of a close group of internationally minded students who create a strong sense of community across their cultural differences. You share a common academic interest and discover different types of student life as you move between countries.

The academic regulations set out the content, structure and requirements of the programme. A graphical presentation shows the different modules and courses.

Who it suits

The programme suits you if you have a bachelor's degree in language, literature and media and want to work with children's and young people's literature and media across countries and media. You should be ready to study in several countries and to work with both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. The programme is for students who want to understand how children and young people use and produce texts and media, and how these are communicated and received in different contexts.

You will be part of an international group, so you should be comfortable working with people from different cultural backgrounds. The programme also suits you if you are interested in a career in production, communication or teaching within children's literature and media, or if you are considering a PhD.
