What you will study

This is a three-year bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration at Aarhus University, taught in English with an international focus. You study at Aarhus BSS, across the Department of Management and the Department of Economics and Business Economics.

What you study

The programme covers the core of business administration: organisational behaviour, strategy, management accounting, financial accounting, logistics, marketing management, finance, micro- and macroeconomics and business law. You also take methodological courses in economics and business administration. The aim is to help you identify, formulate and solve business administration issues, whether that means financing decisions, optimising production planning or improving customer satisfaction. You learn how companies and institutions are affected by society, technology, general economic conditions and legislation.

Named courses include Economics 1 and Economics 2 (micro, macro and industrial economics), Strategy, Operations Management, Business Law, Data Science, Scientific methods, and Mathematics and Statistics.

How the programme is organised

Teaching is mainly lectures, classroom instruction and study group work. Expect around 20 hours of teaching per week and about the same for preparation. You are part of a study group where you prepare presentations and discuss theory together.

The fifth semester is yours to shape: you can pick from a range of elective subjects on the programme or spend the semester as an exchange student at a partner university. In the sixth semester you write a Bachelor's project within a business administration subject of your choice. The programme is full-time, even if not every day has scheduled classes.

Who it suits

It suits you if you want to understand how a company works as a whole and enjoy both numbers and discussion. You should be comfortable with English, since all instruction and literature are in English. The programme is for someone who likes to analyse problems and make decisions based on what they find.

Admission, language and next steps

You need a qualifying entry examination. Specific requirements are English B, Mathematics B, and History B or History of Ideas B or Social Studies B or Contemporary History B or International Economics B. B-level refers to the Danish subject level, not the grade. In quota 1 you also need a GPA of at least 6.0 on the Danish 7-point scale. Without that GPA, your application is assessed in quota 2 only, where your grades in the relevant subjects and any particularly relevant qualifications count.

Apply through optagelse.dk. The programme starts in August or September. EU/EEA and Swiss students study free of charge; other students pay a fee set by the institution. After the bachelor's, you have a legal right of admission to the 1-year Master's in Economics and Business Administration (cand.merc.), and you can also apply to other master's programmes.
