About Business Academy Aarhus
Business Academy Aarhus is a business academy in Aarhus, in the Central Denmark region. It is an independent, self-owning institution under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, and it describes itself as a School of Applied Sciences. In European usage that term covers institutions of higher education that focus on practice-orientated applied degrees rather than research.
The academy was founded on 1 January 2009 and is one of the largest business academies in Denmark. It has 5,000 full-time students, including 600 international students, plus 5,000 part-time students and about 400 employees. Its degree programmes are mainly applied degrees, especially in technology, IT and business.
Teaching is built around practice. The academy offers undergraduate programmes and can grant academic degrees, but it does not award master's or doctoral degrees. Alongside full-time study it runs further education, part-time programmes up to bachelor's level and short-term courses for people who need to strengthen their qualifications on the job. The AP degree is an undergraduate degree of 120 ECTS, similar to the first two years of a bachelor's degree. A full bachelor's programme earns 210 ECTS, and a bachelor's top-up after an AP degree earns 90 ECTS; an AP degree plus a top-up is equivalent to a full bachelor's degree.
The Study in Denmark register lists 2 English-taught degree programmes here: 1 Academy Profession Degree and 1 Top-up and Postgraduate Diploma. The subjects listed are Multimedia Design and Development Studies. The academy also publishes information for exchange students on its website.
For an international student, the practical side matters. Undergraduate applications go through optagelse.dk, while master's applications go direct to the institution. Students from outside the EU/EEA need a residence permit via SIRI. Study is free for EU/EEA and Swiss students, and others pay an institutional fee. Check the academy's website for the details of each programme.
The register in numbers
Fees are in euros as the institution lists them. A programme with no figure in the register is "not recorded" on its page, never free.
