What you will study

Digital Concept Development is a 90 ECTS top-up degree at Business Academy Aarhus. It takes 1.5 years, is taught in English, and is for people who already hold an AP degree and want a longer degree and more job options. The programme was developed with design bureaus, web agencies and companies.

What you study

You learn to develop creative digital concepts that support a company's digital strategy. The work covers digital technologies, digital design, digital user experience and digital communication. You also get tools to work with AI in a professional context.

The first semester is creative digital design, with the courses Digital concepts (15 ECTS) and Digital value creation (15 ECTS). The second semester is advanced UX and business: Digital business (10 ECTS), Data driven design (5 ECTS) and Digital responsibility (5 ECTS). You then pick one elective, either Designing for the brain (10 ECTS) or Interactive design and development (10 ECTS). The third semester is digital solutions in practice, made up of an internship (15 ECTS) and a bachelor project (15 ECTS).

How the programme is organised

Teaching mixes dialogue-based teaching, project-orientated group work and individual assignments. Classes are small, with 20 to 35 students, so you have close contact with lecturers. You work in small teams on real cases from companies, and guest speakers bring experience and trends from the business community. Co-examiners from the business community take part in exams.

The internship is compulsory and you find the company yourself, in Denmark or abroad, with help from the academy's job and internship portal. You write a project report based on a problem statement from the company. Most students use the internship for their final examination project, where you specialise in a defined area of digital concept development. You can also take a summer school, an exchange semester or your internship abroad.

Note that the 1.5-year bachelor's top-up programmes at the business academies are closing under a reform. The last start date for this programme is August 2027.

Who it suits

It suits you if you have an AP degree in Multimedia Design, Marketing Management, Design Technology and Business, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship and Design, or Service Hospitality and Tourism Management, and want to go further into UX, concept development and digital business. You should be comfortable with group work, company cases and taking responsibility for your own internship search. The programme is for people who want to design and develop digital solutions, not just talk about them.

Admission, language and next steps

You apply through nemStudie, not optagelse.dk, because this is a top-up degree. There is one intake a year, in August. All documentation must be attached by the deadline.

If you do not have a qualifying Danish AP degree but have a comparable degree, the academy assesses your actual competencies and motivation. Contact student counselling to ask about options and any extra requirements.
