What you will study

Multimedia Design at Business Academy Aarhus is a two-year AP degree for people who want to build digital products: websites, apps, touch screens, e-commerce and augmented digital experiences. You study in English, work on real cases with companies, and finish with an internship and a final exam project. The programme carries 120 ECTS, plus 10 extra ECTS in programming on the international line.

What you study

The core is digital design, user experience design (UX), programming in JavaScript, and AI tools used in a professional context. You also cover HTML and CSS, content production, visual identity, design systems, SEO, data, business understanding, sustainability in solutions, and innovation and idea development. Later semesters bring WordPress and React, a JavaScript framework.

The programme is built from named blocks:

  • Multimedia production 1 (30 ECTS): target groups, testing digital solutions, sketches, colour, typography, images, and coding in JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
  • Multimedia production 2 (30 ECTS): more JavaScript, HTML and CSS, content production, design and visual identity, UX/UI, design systems, and real company cases.
  • UX and Frontend Development (25 ECTS): WordPress, React, deeper UX/UI, and your own personal branding and portfolio.
  • Specialisation (5 ECTS): you choose your own focus.
  • Internship (15 ECTS) and final exam project (15 ECTS).

There are no elective subjects. You build a portfolio through the programme that shows your creative work and your intercultural experience.

How the programme is organised

Teaching mixes classroom sessions, assignments, cases, workshops and project work, with dialogue-based teaching, group work and individual assignments. The first three semesters combine subjects and project work with international companies, with masterclasses and lectures from business and research. The second semester includes an obligatory study trip.

The fourth semester is a 10-week internship in Denmark or abroad, which you find yourself with help from the career centre, followed by the final exam project, often done with a company. You can also take a summer school or an exchange semester abroad. You need your own laptop suitable for multimedia production.

Who it suits

This suits someone who wants hands-on work from analogue sketches to digital development, and who likes group projects, since multimedia work brings different professional backgrounds together. The international line puts extra weight on programming and producing solutions. Classmates come from all over the world, and the programme is taught entirely in English.
