About Business Academy Copenhagen

Business Academy Copenhagen, known as EK, is a business academy in Copenhagen and the Capital Region. It was formed by merging Copenhagen Business Academy (Cphbusiness) and KEA, Copenhagen School of Design and Technology. The register describes it as Denmark's largest business academy, with teaching and research carried out in close collaboration with businesses. Its 13 campus areas sit across Copenhagen and the surrounding region, and exchange students are hosted at three central campuses: EK Guldbergsgade, EK Nansensgade and EK Prinsesse Charlottes Gade.

The academy's stated aim is to build a strong base for professionally oriented higher education in the Capital Region. A single, larger institution gives it a firmer financial footing for quality, development and student well-being across teaching, research and administration. It also raises the visibility of academy profession and professional bachelor programmes with students and employers alike. The merger was made to meet growing demands around sustainability, new technology and AI.

Teaching is practice-based. Students work on projects and apply what they learn in close contact with industry rather than only in the classroom. The register lists 44 full-time and 27 part-time programmes across construction and energy, finance and economics, engineering and environment, design and experience, business and marketing, and IT. The academy reports 20,000 students across its 13 campuses.

For international applicants, the Study in Denmark register lists one English-taught degree programme at EK: a bachelor's degree in industrial design. That is a narrow offering, so check the institution's own site for the full picture before you apply.

Practical arrangements follow the usual Danish pattern. Undergraduate applications go through optagelse.dk, while master's applications are made directly to the institution. Students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland need a residence permit, applied for through SIRI. Study is free for EU, EEA and Swiss students; others pay an institutional fee set by the institution.

Copenhagen itself is the Danish capital, spread mainly over the island of Zealand with part on Amager, and linked to Malmö in Sweden by the Øresund Bridge. It is the country's cultural and economic centre, and one of Northern Europe's financial hubs. For a student, that means a city with museums, parks, waterfronts and a metro and S-train network serving the centre and outlying districts.
