What you will study
MSc EBA SAM is a two-year master's at Copenhagen Business School taught in English. It is 120 ECTS and full-time. The programme focuses on how the sales function is changing through digitalisation, AI and analytics. It looks at how sales and marketing create value by combining market insight, strategic thinking and awareness of financial impact. Sales management here draws on business understanding, psychology and digital tools.
What you study
The first year is made up of fixed courses. In the autumn you take Big Data Commercial Strategies, Professional Selling, Creating Innovation and Customer Value, and Designing Market-Based Digital Platforms. Each is 7.5 ECTS. In the spring you take Sales and Marketing Analytics, Performance Management, Customer and Firm Profitability, and Commercial Business Project, also 7.5 ECTS each.
Customer value analytics and financial management are central. You work with customer-related costs, profitability and different approaches to value creation. That gives a fact-based basis for decisions about customer equity, profitability and lifetime value. The programme also covers entrepreneurial and innovative skills, including designing platform-based solutions. It introduces technologies such as generative AI, chatbots, large language models, digital twins and digital platforms, and considers their role in sales and marketing. You also study digital commercial strategies and platforms, and use analytical tools to collect, clean, analyse and report customer and ecosystem data. Data storytelling is used to present insights clearly.
The third semester is 30 ECTS of electives, a minor, exchange, an academic internship or CEMS. The fourth semester is the 30 ECTS master's thesis, which you usually write with a fellow student.
How the programme is organised
Teaching mixes lectures, workshops with experts and group work. Exams vary: some are written assignments, some are oral exams on campus, and several are group exams. The programme has 65 students, 48% from outside Denmark, and an average age of 25.5. Topics are marketing (35%), trade and logistics (25%) and organisation and management (40%).
On the third semester you can take electives at CBS or other Danish universities, a minor of typically three courses, exchange at one of CBS's more than 300 partner universities, or an academic internship in Denmark or abroad with a project report. You can also apply for CEMS, a double degree in international management taken in your third and fourth semesters, partly at a CEMS university abroad.
Who it suits
You should be curious about combining digital tools, customer insights and analytics to understand markets and improve business performance. You should be interested in designing new solutions, pitching business ideas and applying AI, digital platforms and sales strategies. You should enjoy learning with companies, alumni and fellow students. The programme combines business economics, psychology and strategy, so you need both quantitative and qualitative approaches. You will use data analysis, statistical methods and CRM or analytical software. You also need an interest in people and sales development: understanding customer needs, managing relationships and balancing profitability, behaviour and ethics.
Admission, language and next steps
The programme is taught in English. It will be offered for the last time in 2028, as CBS is discontinuing it under the master programme reform. CBS is moving to one-year full-time master's programmes and more part-time programmes from 2027. Applications for master's programmes go directly to CBS. Check the entry requirements on the programme page. Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge; other students pay a fee set by the institution. You can meet students and staff at CBS Open Day.
