What you will study

BSc in International Business at Copenhagen Business School is a three year bachelor taught in English. It is about how large companies work across borders: how they read foreign markets, follow the laws and regulations that apply there, and choose strategies for entering and growing in those markets. The programme has 202 students, 57% men and 43% women, with an average age of 21. About a third come from outside Denmark.

What you study

The programme is built around four topic areas, and the page gives their weight in the degree:

  • Economics and mathematics (45%): supply and demand, inflation, exchange rates, and how businesses decide in changing market conditions.
  • Trade and logistics (30%): global trade and supply chains, and what doing business internationally involves.
  • Organisation and management (15%): how firms organise people and activities across countries.
  • Innovation and entrepreneurship (10%): how companies use strategy and innovation to stay competitive.

Courses named on the page include International Business Environment, Statistics, Microeconomics, Founder's Dilemmas: Anticipate and Avoid Startup Pitfalls, Industrial Organizational Analysis, Corporate Governance, Principles of International Marketing, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Financial Accounting, Organizational Behaviour, Business Research Methodology, Corporate Finance, Risk Management of Multinational Enterprise: Creating Global Strategic Responsiveness, Global Supply Chain Management, Innovation and Disruptive Technologies in International Business, Contemporary Issues in International Business, Global Strategy and Geopolitics, and the International Business Thesis.

You also learn to collect and interpret data, spot patterns and trends, and turn them into strategies. Examples on the page: rising commodity prices hitting food companies, or demand for sustainability reshaping fashion.

How the programme is organised

Teaching runs in quarters. Most courses are 7.5 ECTS, and the International Business Thesis is 15 ECTS. Exams are written or oral, on campus or as written assignments, and most are individual. The thesis is a group exam.

The 5th semester is set aside for 30 ECTS of electives, exchange or an internship. Electives can be taken at CBS or at other Danish universities, as long as they are relevant to the programme. Exchange usually happens at one of CBS' more than 300 partner universities; you do not pay for teaching at the foreign university (with a few exceptions) and you can keep your SU. An academic internship is a working period in a company, in or outside Denmark, finished with a project report.

The page also mentions Global Supply Chain and Logistics Management, a programme focusing on international business, global logistics and supply chain management, which you can apply for.

Who it suits

You should be curious about how large international companies operate across borders, and willing to work with economics and mathematics as well as management and marketing. The programme looks at companies from several angles at once, so you need to be comfortable moving between finance, strategy and organisation. If you want to understand why a company expands where it does, or how a global brand runs marketing in different markets, this fits.

Admission, language and next steps

Everything is taught in English. Danish undergraduate applications go through optagelse.dk. Entry requirements and the exact admission rules sit on the programme page and in the programme regulations, so check those before you apply.
