What you will study
MSc in Business Administration and Innovation in Health Care at Copenhagen Business School is a two year master programme taught in English. It takes 120 ECTS and runs full time. The programme looks at health care innovation as both a business opportunity and a societal necessity. You learn to analyse new ideas, products and services as business cases while also weighing their impact on patients, organisations and wider health systems.
What you study
The programme splits its focus between organisation and management (about 60%) and innovation and entrepreneurship (about 40%). In the first year you take courses such as Health Care Innovation and Management, Managerial Statistics for Innovation, Health Systems and Innovation, The Organization of Health Care Innovation, Innovation in Clinical Processes and Health Care Delivery, Foundations of Health Care IT and The Health Care Innovation Project (15 ECTS). Sustainability and digital transformation run through the teaching, including how artificial intelligence, data and digital health tools are reshaping care delivery.
On the third semester you choose a specialisation. The options are Assessment and Digital Trends, Bio and Health Care Entrepreneurship, or an elective track at NOVA School of Business and Economics in Lisbon, Portugal. The Assessment and Digital Trends track includes Frontiers of Digital Healthcare and Health Innovation Assessment and Advanced Cost Benefit, plus Register Based Epidemiology, which is taught at the University of Copenhagen (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences). The Bio and Health Care Entrepreneurship track draws on courses such as Innovation Strategy in BioBusiness, Bio-Markets, Bioentrepreneurship and Finance and Accounting in Bio-Business. The fourth semester is the Master's Thesis at 30 ECTS.
How the programme is organised
Teaching is split into quarters and semesters across the two years. Exams mix written exams on campus, written assignments with oral exams on campus, group exams and individual exams. The Health Care Innovation Project is a 15 ECTS group project in the spring of the first year. The cohort is small, around 50 students, and most of them come from outside Denmark.
Who it suits
This programme is for you if you want to build and implement new solutions in health care rather than work mainly with regulation or compliance. You should be curious about how technology, data and artificial intelligence can change care, and comfortable with change and uncertainty rather than seeking stability. A genuine interest in making health care more resource efficient and environmentally sustainable helps too.
