How it compares
Master in Business Administration and Bioentrepreneurship (MSc) is one of 23 English-taught Business Administration programmes at Master's Degree level in the register, offered by 6 institutions. 21 of them list an annual fee for students from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, from EUR 3,582 to EUR 15,000; this programme lists EUR 8,000 a year. 15 are recorded as free for EU, EEA and Swiss students.
What you will study
MSc in Business Administration and Bioentrepreneurship is a two-year master's at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) that bridges life science and business. It is run with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the University of Copenhagen (KU). You spend the first year on advanced biology and biotechnology, then move to CBS for a second year on entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialisation.
What you study
The first year is 60 ECTS of life science courses at the University of Copenhagen, DTU or another approved Danish or international university. The second year at CBS covers business and bioinnovation. Third-semester courses include Finance and Accounting in Bio-Business (7.5 ECTS), Bio-Markets (7.5 ECTS), Innovation Strategy in BioBusiness (7.5 ECTS) and Bioentrepreneurship (7.5 ECTS). Topics include finance, marketing, intellectual property rights and business model design. The final semester is a 30 ECTS master's thesis.
How the programme is organised
Teaching uses real cases and guest lecturers from biotech, pharma and medtech companies. Courses run in blocks of about two months, which students describe as intensive. The programme has strong ties to the Danish life science industry. You can do a three-month internship in a life science company, and your thesis can build on it. The cohort is small, with a maximum of 40 students per year, so you work closely with faculty and in groups.
Who it suits
It suits you if you have a bachelor's in biology, biotechnology or another life science and want to move beyond the lab into business. You should be curious about how research becomes products, services or companies. You will work with students from business backgrounds, so you need to be open to other ways of thinking. The programme is taught in English.
Admission, language and next steps
Enrolment requires a bachelor's in biology or biotechnology. If you have already completed equivalent coursework, you may apply directly to the second year at CBS. Applications for master's programmes go straight to CBS. Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge; other students pay a fee set by the institution.
