What you will study
MSc in Economics and Business Administration in General Management and Analytics is a two-year master's programme at Copenhagen Business School, taught in English. It is a full-time degree worth 120 ECTS, and the programme has 420 students. The mix is roughly 62% men and 38% women, the average age is 24.8, and 18% of students come from outside Denmark.
What you study
The programme is built on business economics and gives you a broad base for management work. You learn to set goals, handle complexity and design solutions that add value to companies and society. Three areas carry the teaching: marketing, economics and mathematics, and organisation and management. Marketing is about understanding markets, customers and competition through data and analysis, and connecting analytical insight with creativity to create growth. Economics and mathematics give you the tools to interpret data, understand performance and evaluate business opportunities. Organisation and management looks at how leadership, collaboration and structure affect performance, and how to turn analysis into action.
Courses on the programme include Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Strategy and Organization, Market Development, Business Analytics, Market Informed Decisions, Qualitative Methods and Reasoning, and Business Project. You work with both quantitative methods, such as data analysis, and qualitative methods, such as observing and understanding organisational processes. The teaching uses cases and real-life examples, and you practise using data to design solutions and work with stakeholders across a business. Group work is part of some courses, in teaching activities and project work.
How the programme is organised
The first year is made up of set courses across the autumn and spring semesters. In the autumn you meet Corporate Finance, Management Accounting, Strategy and Organization and Market Development. In the spring the courses are Business Analytics, Market Informed Decisions, Qualitative Methods and Reasoning, and Business Project. The third semester is open: you can take electives at CBS or at other Danish universities, take a minor made up of a package of electives within one academic area, go on exchange at one of CBS' more than 300 partner universities, or do an academic internship at a company in Denmark or abroad, finished with a project report. You can also apply for CEMS, the Master in International Management, a double degree you take alongside your CBS degree in your third and fourth semester, with part of it at another CEMS university abroad. The fourth semester is your master's thesis, 30 ECTS, on a topic you choose, typically written with a fellow student.
Who it suits
This programme fits students who want to combine management and analytics and are comfortable with numbers as well as with more abstract questions. You should be curious about how organisations work, how decisions are made across functions, and how data, business intelligence, AI and machine learning can support decisions. Group work matters here, so you should enjoy learning with others. The student association, GMA Society, supports the study environment. Students describe the programme as a combination of strategy, analytics, finance and accounting that opens a broader view of different roles.
Admission, language and next steps
The programme is taught in English. If your bachelor's degree was not taught in English, CBS recommends reading its guidance on English-taught study before you apply. Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge; other students pay a fee that the institution sets. Applications for master's programmes go directly to CBS. The page points you to the programme regulations, to Open Day for master's programmes at Solbjerg Plads 3 in Frederiksberg, and to CBS' information for international students.
