About University College of Northern Denmark
University College of Northern Denmark (UCN) is a university college in the North Jutland Region, with campuses in Aalborg, Frederikshavn, Hjørring and Thisted. It was formally established on 3 July 2007, when CVU Nordjylland and Sundheds CVU Nordjylland merged, bringing together teacher training colleges and medical colleges under one institution. In 2009 it merged with Nordjyllands Erhvervsakademi, becoming the first university college in Denmark to offer business programmes. In 2016 it took over nursing, pedagogy and pedagogy assistant programmes from VIA University College.
Teaching at UCN is practical and tied to the professions. Programmes are built with established professions in mind and updated in cooperation with industry representatives. The college has close links with the industries around it and a focus on employability and impact. It also has an entrepreneurial environment for students who want to start their own business. UCN offers 47 programmes at vocational training, associate degree and bachelor's degree levels; the largest are in teaching, nursing and economics. It employs about 870 staff and has approximately 8,500 students enrolled.
The Study in Denmark register lists 2 English-taught degree programmes at UCN, both at bachelor's level, in computer science and engineering. Note that the Wikipedia entry says UCN does not enrol international students in its degree programmes and instead offers semester-long exchange in business, social education, health and technology. Check the current position with UCN before you apply.
For an international student, undergraduate applications in Denmark go through optagelse.dk, while master's applications go directly to the institution. Students from outside the EU/EEA need a residence permit via SIRI. Study is free for EU/EEA and Swiss students; others pay an institutional fee. UCN describes an intercultural atmosphere, with roughly 1,000 international students from more than 40 nationalities.
The register in numbers
Fees are in euros as the institution lists them. A programme with no figure in the register is "not recorded" on its page, never free.
