What you will study

The Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics at Copenhagen Business School is a part-time master's degree for people already working in the maritime sector. The programme runs over 22 months and is built around eight week-long modules, so you can join from anywhere in the world. Teaching takes place in Denmark, Germany and Greece.

What you study

The programme takes a broad view of shipping, bringing together commercial, technological and financial aspects with maritime law, supply-chain management and leadership. You work with modern management theories and see how they apply in the maritime sector. Six themes run through the whole programme:

  • Market understanding
  • Leadership
  • Information technology
  • Globalisation
  • Environmental issues
  • Strategic planning

The aim is to take participants to a top international level in business administration, matching what the industry needs as globalisation, competition and technological change put more demands on executive management skills.

Admission, language and next steps

The programme starts every other year in September, and applications are considered on a rolling basis. To be admitted you need a bachelor's degree from a recognised academic institution (or equivalent), an admissions test or similar documented qualification, at least five years of work experience in a relevant field, and two personal recommendations. Before admission, applicants are interviewed and an individual assessment is made based on the requirements and the interview. For long-distance applicants the interview may be conducted by telephone.

The programme is taught in English. Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge; other students pay a fee set by the institution. The tuition fee does not include course material, travel and accommodation costs. Applications go directly to Copenhagen Business School.
