What you will study

What you study

The first year builds your artistic foundations. You take modules in design, concept art, and animation and film history and culture. You get a thorough introduction to Maya and Adobe, and start working with most of the Maya pipeline. 3D modelling, for both characters and environments, has the biggest focus. You also learn how to mix 2D and 3D elements in your projects and judge when to use which, depending on the resources you have.

In the second year, you move into texturing, shading, lighting, rendering and compositing. The year is built around two large projects and a smaller elective.

In the final semesters, you join other animation students and form production teams to create graduation productions that lead to your bachelor project. Teams form around a selected pitch. You specialise into elective roles, plan and manage a complex project, and learn why deadlines matter. You also compile your portfolio and showreel with guidance from staff and teachers, to highlight your skills when you apply for internships and target the jobs you want.
