About this programme
Bachelor in International Bachelor in Natural Sciences is a Bachelor's Degree programme at Roskilde University in Roskilde, taught in English. It runs for 3 years. The register gives Roskilde as the campus town. It lists the degree as Bachelor. Roskilde University is a research university in Region Zealand.
What you will study
This is a broad natural sciences bachelor at Roskilde University, taught in English. You start with a year of interdisciplinary study, then specialise in two bachelor subjects. The programme is built around project work: roughly half your study time goes into projects, and you work closely with researchers while you do it.
What you study
The first year is a basic section of interdisciplinary studies. You meet fundamental theories, techniques and methods from several scientific disciplines and learn to work across their boundaries with other students. Courses in this section include Empirical data, Experimental methods and Theory of Natural Science, plus courses within the area of Natural Science.
In the last two years you pick two bachelor subjects. The programme lists these options:
- Bioprocess Science: molecular, environmental and medical biology combined with chemistry, applied to medicine, industry, agriculture and aquaculture.
- Chemistry: organic, physical, analytical and inorganic chemistry and biochemistry, with a focus on chemical biology, sustainable chemistry and green chemistry.
- Computer Science: software development from planning and analysis to design, implementation, testing and documentation.
- Environmental Biology: how animals, plants and micro-organisms interact with their physical, chemical and biological environment.
- Mathematics: basic research in mathematics, mathematical didactics, and models used in physics, epidemiology and physiology.
- Molecular Biology: biochemistry, cell biology, genetics and microbiology.
- Physics: electrodynamics, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics.
Not every pairing is open. Computer Science, for example, can be combined with Bioprocess Science, Business Studies, Communication Studies, Environmental Biology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology or Physics.
How the programme is organised
Each semester mixes subject courses of 5 ECTS with project work of 15 ECTS. The projects have set themes: Applications of Natural Sciences in Technology and Society, Interaction between model, theory, experiment and simulation in natural sciences, Natural Sciences and Theory of Science, then a project in each of your two bachelor subjects. You finish with a bachelor project of 15 ECTS. The table on the programme page is an example; courses, projects, internships and study abroad with credit transfer can vary from student to student.
Teaching happens through lectures, academic seminars, laboratory exercises and computational exercises in small groups. You get access to the university's supercomputer and its laboratories, which researchers and students share. You can also spend a term at one of the universities with which RUC's natural sciences area has an exchange agreement, or arrange a stay elsewhere yourself.
Who it suits
You should be curious about how the world is structured and willing to move between disciplines rather than stay inside one. The programme points to societal problems such as plastic pollution, biodiversity loss and antibiotic resistance, and also to questions driven by pure curiosity. Project work suits you if you like choosing your own topic and taking responsibility for a longer piece of work. The environment is local and social: a scientific community where you get to know fellow students and researchers, with a student lounge, the NAT-Café, quiz and pizza evenings, a spring gala and a brewing group.
Admission, language and next steps
Teaching is in English. You need English at Danish B level and Mathematics at Danish A level, plus one of these combinations: Physics B and Chemistry B; Physics B and Biotechnology A; Chemistry B and Geoscience A; or Chemistry B, Biology A and Physics C. Applicants with a foreign entry qualification are assessed against the general admission requirements. When you choose your bachelor subjects, there may be additional admission requirements. Undergraduate applications go through optagelse.dk. Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge; other students pay a fee that the institution sets. After the bachelor you can apply for one of Roskilde University's master's programmes offered from 2028.
Job opportunities after graduating
- Medicinal biologist in pharmaceutical companies
- Ecotoxicologist in companies, government agencies or universities
- Data analyst
- Physicist working on materials such as plastics or paint

Before you apply
Undergraduate applications are made through optagelse.dk, with deadlines on 15 March and 5 July (12:00 CET). Which one applies depends on your qualification. Entry requirements and language tests are set by the institution, so start from the official programme page. Our guides cover tuition fees, residence permits and housing.
Facts on this page come from the Study in Denmark register, the official portal of the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. Fees are in euros as the institution lists them. "Not recorded" means the register has no figure, not that the programme is free. Always confirm requirements, fees and deadlines with the institution.
