What you will study

The MSc in Computer Science at the IT University of Copenhagen is a two-year master's programme taught in English. It is for you who already hold an IT-related bachelor's degree and want to go deeper into computer science at an academic level, with research as the base.

What you study

The programme is built around software development and the maintenance of software. You work on projects, and the teaching ties the technical side to how a development process is run: the organisational and managerial parts of getting software built and kept running. You also learn to work in teams, plan and organise, and create and implement complex software concepts. Cooperation with people from other professional backgrounds is part of it. During your studies you specialise in a particular area of computer science.

Admission, language and next steps

To apply you need a university bachelor's degree or a professional bachelor's degree. If your degree is from outside Denmark, ITU makes an individual assessment of whether it is comparable. In all cases your background must be related to computer science or software development and must have included a significant amount of programming, foundations and software engineering.

Teaching is in English. You apply directly to the IT University of Copenhagen with all relevant documentation. The application deadline for the autumn intake is 1 March for all international applicants, both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA citizens. If you are unsure whether your foreign certificate meets the general entry requirements, contact ITU directly; the Danish Agency for Higher Education has a list of commonly recognised exams and diplomas.

Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland study free of charge. Other full-time degree students pay a tuition fee set by the institution. Exchange students do not pay tuition.
