What you will study

The Master's in Medialogy at Aalborg University is for people who want to use media technology to solve real problems. You work hands-on with the science and technology behind interactive digital systems: apps, VR, computer games, the Internet of Things and the physical interfaces of digital systems. You learn to design and build media technology solutions, often with companies, and to work with user experiences in professional settings.

What you study

The programme covers virtual and augmented reality, apps, game engines, artificial intelligence, computer vision and audio. You can develop computer games, work with computer-generated 3D graphics or build interactive experiences. Courses are named on the programme page. On the first semester you take the project Adaptive Media Systems and the course Machine Learning for Media Experiences. You then choose two electives from Real-Time Computer Graphics, Mobile and Wearable Computing, and Narratives in Interactive Systems. The second semester has the project Immersive Experiences and the course Multi-Sensory Interaction and Media Cognition, plus two electives from Signal Processing for Interactive Systems, Embodied Interaction, Spatial User Interfaces, and Game Research and Development.

How the programme is organised

Teaching is problem-based and project-based. You work in groups with fellow students on real-world projects. You get time to go deep into a topic and to use advanced equipment in the laboratories and workshops, testing techniques in virtual reality, interactive 3D and user evaluation. You learn to assess and select the theories, methods and tools you need to create new knowledge and technology. The third semester offers three paths: a project-oriented study in an external organisation, DADIU Game Production, or an ordinary project. You can take an internship in Denmark or abroad, at a company, public institution or professional organisation, or an exchange stay at another university. The fourth semester is your master's thesis. The degree title is Master of Science (MSc) in Medialogy.

Who it suits

This programme suits you if you are interested in how technology solves problems and how people use technology, and if you want to develop new technology through prototyping, user testing and evaluation of your designs. You should be comfortable working in groups and learning by doing.
