How the programme is organised

The programme is a two-year master's degree taught in English, based in Copenhagen. It uses problem-based learning, with group projects each semester. You and your group can collaborate with companies on semester projects, and there are guest lectures, training days and hacking events. Aalborg University is part of the Danish Hub for Cyber Security, which brings together universities, start-ups and established companies.

All bachelors enrolled in the programme who have not obtained their bachelor's degree from Aalborg University must take part in a course on problem based learning as part of the first semester project. If non-AAU bachelors get credit transfer for the first semester, they will be asked to take part in a course ensuring that they are trained in working according to the problem based learning model.

In the third semester, you can go abroad or spend your semester in a company. Aalborg University cooperates with universities across the world and has contacts in industry for student projects and company internships. The International Office can give guidance, but you must make your own preparations, including checking whether you need advanced credit transfer, looking for accommodation, checking insurance, visa and possible vaccinations, and, if relevant, how to avoid a lapse of your Danish residence permit.

The programme is expected to be offered from 2028 as a two-year programme (full-time study, 120 ECTS credits) and as a three-year Master's for working professionals (first year full-time and then two years of part-time study in combination with relevant employment).
