Tuition and, depending on the faculty, a contribution to living costs (which is subject to Danish taxation)
Overview
The Danish Government Scholarship at the University of Copenhagen is for non-EU/EEA students who apply to a master's programme. It is competitive and based on academic achievement. The university awards a limited number of tuition waivers and grants each year.
You do not fill in a separate scholarship form. If you are a non-EU/EEA applicant and you apply for a master's programme, you are automatically considered. The scholarship is granted either as a full or partial tuition fee waiver, or as an amount that covers basic living expenses, or a combination of both.
Each faculty handles the scholarship slightly differently. For example, the Faculty of Science covers tuition fees and living expenses for 22 months, while the Faculty of Social Sciences awards generally 2-3 scholarships per year, only for the September intake. The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences may offer a scholarship that covers both tuition and living expenses, or just tuition.
If you receive a scholarship that covers living expenses, note that the amount is taxed under Danish tax rules. Some nationalities may be exempt, and you will be told in your award letter if that applies to you.
