What you will study

What you study

Mechatronics at SDU Sønderborg is about building intelligent products that combine mechanics, electronics and software. You will learn how these three areas connect, and you will work on real development tasks. The programme gives you broad technical knowledge through basic courses in mechanics, electronics, programming, mathematics and physics. You also take courses in power electronics, thermodynamics and mechanical engineering. You will work with mechatronic products such as drones and power steering. The first semester introduces what mechatronics is and what it takes to develop mechatronic products. In the second semester you look at system components and how they interact. The third semester builds on that knowledge. The fourth semester covers regulatory systems and how they are integrated into a product. In the fifth semester you can choose electives and take part in an interdisciplinary project called Experts in Teams. You can also study abroad that semester. The sixth semester is a mandatory internship in a company, in Denmark or abroad. The seventh and final semester is your graduation project, often done with a company. You can specialise through electives, your internship and your graduation project.
